Institution (Formation)
- Formation: As part of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, Vaikom Block Panchayat was officially established on 02/10/1959.
- Area: Located in Vaikom Taluk, the Block Panchayat covers an area of approximately 123.83 square kilometres.
- Jurisdiction: The Block Panchayat comprises the following Grama Panchayats: Chempu, Maravanthuruthu, Thalayazham, TV Puram, Udayanapuram, and Vechoor.
Elected Body
- There are a total of 14 wards (divisions).
- A President and Vice-President are elected from among the 14 elected members.
- Statutory reservation is provided for women and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities.
