Vaikom Block Panchayat

Vaikom Block Panchayat is a rural local self-government institution functioning under the three-tier Panchayati Raj system in Kerala. It serves as the intermediate level of administration between the Gram Panchayats and the District Panchayat, coordinating development activities and implementing government welfare schemes within its jurisdiction.

The Vaikom Block Panchayat comprises six Gram Panchayats within its jurisdiction:

  1. Vechoor
  2. Thalayazham
  3. T. V. Puram
  4. Maravanthuruthu
  5. Udayanapuram
  6. Chempu

These six Gram Panchayats together form the administrative area of the Vaikom Block Panchayat.

The Block Panchayat plays a vital role in promoting rural development, social welfare, infrastructure improvement, and economic growth. It works closely with the constituent Gram Panchayats to ensure effective delivery of public services and the successful implementation of various state and central government programs. For Administraive Convenience, the Area is divided into 14 Ward Divisions.
